what is  „Immersion Cooling“?

„Immersion Cooling” is a method to operate non-rotating hardware and electronic capacity components submerged in a technical fluid. The „2phase Immersion Cooling“  technology is based on the change of aggregation (phase changing) of fluids.

Today there are known two different methodes for „Immersion Cooling“:

single phase Immersion Cooling:

the heat from the CPU is warming the fluid à the fluid must be cooled in an external heat exchanger with a secondary circuit

two phase Immersion Cooling:

the heat from the CPU is taken up by the evaporation process of the technical fluid à the uprising vapor is  condensing at an integrated heat exchanger inside the unit

The energy expenditure for the evaporation and condensation process is 100x higher than just changing the temperature of the liquid by 1K!

Example ASIC board for Blockchain application:

The generated heat from the equipment will be transmitted directly into the liquid. At parts higher than +61°C, the evaporation process of the technical fluid begins to boil.

The vaporous fluid is condensing inside the unit. The heat from the electronic loads is dissipated efficiently through a cooling water circuit on a high temperature level
